Cut it Up Challenge #250 ~ April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hi Crafty Friends,

Our latest challenge at Cut it Up Challenge Blog is so timely.  As I'm sitting here typing, I'm watching the wonderful showers nourishing our landscaping.  It's a wonderful sight in draught-ridden California.
We'd like to see your interpretation of our April Showers, May Flowers theme.

Here's my project using a stamp and die set, Wildflower, from our sponsor
Pink & Main.

Since we received the die set with the stamp set I thought it would be fun to experiment with the idea of paper piecing.  I did eliminate one flower in order to fit the A2 size card I wanted to make.
I added accents using Prisma pencils and Gamsol to blend.  I also added some Nuvo drops and Stickles.
The clouds a die cuts from LaLa Land Crafts and the raindrop stencil and sentiment are from Jaded Blossom.  It's a little different way to use the stamp but with its bold stamped lines I think it works.

Thanks for taking a look.  I hope you'll play along.  Just link to the CIU link above.
Remember, you must use a die cut on your project.

Cut it Up Challenge # 170 ~ Anything with a Flower

Hi Crafty Friends,

Time for another Cut it Up challenge.
For challenge # 170 you can create anything with a flower!

Our sponsor for this challenge is Scrappy Dew.
I used their Garden Girl cut file for my card.

I used patterned papers from Authentique along with Doodlebug Designs card stock for all the paper pieces. Garden girl was cut using the Silhouette.  The grass is a La La Land die which I cut with my Cuttlebug.

I hope you'll join us for this challenge.

Cupcake!

It's Digi Desserts Fridaze at My Paper Crafting.

Remember that there is always a FREE digi file for you to download when you visit.
Here is a card I made using the FREE file.  After coloring the cake and frosting, I paper pieced the cupcake wrapper.
The paper's are Authentique and the "ribbon" is recycled from Christmas packaging and tied with Scrapper's floss - love that stuff!

I would really LOVE for you to link up your digi projects to this week's DDF post.  You'll have a chance to win a digi of your choice from Paper Crafting World.  The digi gals are working hard to bring you great ideas each week as well as promote our Link Up.  So please head over to
My Paper Crafting and join in the fun.

Forgetful Fran

This week we're adding FABRIC, FIBER, and/or TRIM to our designs at Delightful Challenges.
I chose to use Forgetful Fran and embellished the 5 x 7 card with fabric brads and lace adhered to cloth ribbon.  Fran's shell is paper pieced using the patterned background paper.
The mat is a Spellbinders Blossom die which I inked and then added glitter dots.

Isn't she just the cutest digi?  Forgetful Fran and the sentiment come together as a set from
Digital Delights by Louby Loo.  You can find her and so many other wonderful images by clicking the link above.  Did you know that Wendy also takes design suggestions?  So if you have a special digital request you can let her know.  That's how so many of our sets are created - through your suggestions.

Be sure to stop by Delightful Challenges to see more designs including those of our new Design Team Members.  And while you're there, link up your own FABRIC, FIBER, and/or TRIM project.  You could be the lucky winner of a gift certificate from this week's sponsor

World's Best Dad / Design Team Call

I created this card using digital papers, and an image, and sentiment from Digital Delights by Louby Loo. I think the shirt is perfect for paper piecing and it's so easy to place the image right on the digital paper.  I don't have a photo editing program, I just use Word 2010.  The papers are from Wendy's "Just for Men" digital paper pack.  I also think it would be easy to create a shape card using this image - hmmmm, may have to give that a try.

Design Team Call!
Delightful Challenges (challenge blog for Digital Delights by Louby Loo)  is having a summer/fall design team call.  If you're interested click HERE to get the information.  I've been on this team for a year and it's just fantastic to be able to share the amazing images created by Wendy (aka Louby Loo.)

Hope you're having a great week.  Hubby is having shoulder surgery tomorrow.  It's his right shoulder so he'll be out of commission for awhile.  Looks like I'll be staying home so maybe I'll get more of my crafty ideas completed instead of just floating around in my brain.

Hugs and Happy Crafting,

Paper Piecing

It's time for a new Delightful Challenge and today I'm sharing a technique that I've never done before.  The challenge this week is to use paper piecing on your project.  I decided that I needed to learn how to paper piece using digital papers and a digital image.  I've chosen to use the Spots and Stripes digital papers and the Bee Hive Larry digital image.
Both are available at Digital Delights by Louby Loo.

So, here's how I completed my card.
Using Microsoft Word 2010, I inserted the different digital papers I wanted to use.  Then I inserted the image, clicked the text wrap button to size it and copied it four more times. I moved the images to the paper that I wanted for a particular section and sized the paper to fit that section.  Now it's time to print.
The next step was to cut out the different pieces.  You'll notice I also prepared the card base, mat, and twine.
I adhered the plain image over the printed image on the cloud paper leaving the wings free to go over the twine.
The cut out layers are added to the image.
The final step is to add the coloring.  I used Copic markers on the bee and also to accent different parts of the hive and the honey - see the difference it makes.
A twine bow and a sentiment and my project is complete - woohoo!

You can participate in our paper piecing challenge (it doesn't have to be digital) by linking up to the Delightful Challenges Blog HERE.
