Girl Power!

Yay!  There's a new release at Digital Delights by Louby Loo. The Delightul gals from the Delightful Challenges team are introducing you to a fabulous set of Super Heroes!!!  You'll love the entire set which includes the Super Heroes, Super Hero digital papers, accessories, and sentiments.  The challenge theme for this new release is  You're Super (add stars or sparkle)

For the step card background, I layered two of the digital papers and the cityscape from the accessory set.  I created the layers in Word rather than printing and cutting each different pattern.  I printed an extra spotlight so that I could add sparkle and pop it up.  I used a Spellbinders ribbon banner for the sentiment and then traced the die to get the shadow piece.  Brianna Bat is colored with Copics and highlighted with an  atYou Spica glitter pen.  I used the glitter pens to add sparled to the image, the "Pow", and the spotlight. The stars are punched from glitter paper.

Summertime Cards

Hey There Crafty Friends!
Seems like forever since I posted.  My daughter had a week off so we took advantage of the time and did almost a week's worth of mother/daughter things - lunches,dinners, shopping,  and a weekend at Lake Tahoe!
But, I'm back in the craft room and have two new projects for you today. Both of them use files from Paper Crafting World.
My first card uses a cut file called Brain Freeze Bear with Popsicle.  The file is sized to be a page layout and includes a title.  I resized it on my Pazzles to created this fun summer card.  I chose to use patterned paper for the bear.  I think it turned out really cute.  The background papers are from Authentique - I LOVE that paper line!

I usually ink the pieces from the cut file, but since I used patterned paper I decided to use foam squares to add dimension.

Next, I used a Paper Crafting World digital printable to create this card.

The PCW digi used is Bear Sodadightul - girl. I used Spellbinders Labels 3 for the matting and My Craft Spot Tiny Banners dies for the pennants.  The paper is from the Carta Bella Giddy Up line.  I got the lace ribbon from "Peachy Cheap."  The bear is colored with Copic Markers and highlighted with atYou Spica glitter pens.

A Sneak Peek at a new Cut File

I'm so glad you stopped by because I'm really excited to share this sneak peek of a new cut file that will be released at Paper Crafting World on Saturday. This altered composition book was created using the new Baseball Bear Layout cut file. Since my daughter coaches softball at Texas Tech University, I had to change things up a little so it would be a softball design.  Easy peasy- I just added the softball title from the Sports Mania cartridge, added a dirt infield, and made the ball a softball by cutting it out in yellow and adding red stitching.  Of course my bear has to wear the Tech colors and the Double T's!

You Are a Blessing

Woohoo!  Time for another post for Delightful Challenges using images from Digital Delights by Louby Loo.  Our theme for the week is  Celebrate with Glitter, Bling, and Sparkly Things. Today I created a monochromatic card using the Tiger Lily from the Flower Set.

Here is what the complete set looks like:
All of the mats on this card come from the Spellbinders A2 Fancy Postage Edge set. The glitter paper is DCWV and the polka dotted paper is My Mind's Eye.  The lily is colored with Copics. I used Distress Ink around the inside edge of the image mat.  I had the gems and sparkly brads in my stash along with the American Crafts ribbon.

Thank You Step Card

I created a step card for this week's My Paper Crafting Sizzlin Summer project.   The step card allowed me to add lots of layers and dimension.  The main feature of the card is a delightful digital image, Christel Bear Holding Flowers, from  Paper Crafting World.

This step card measures 5.5 x 10.5 scored at 1.25, 2.5, 4.25, 6, and 8.25. I added an embossed (Cuttlebug Polka Dots) 4.25 x 5.5 mat to the back step. Hip Hop Myrtle

This week's challenge at Delightful Challenges is On the Fringe.
We were asked to use either paper or fabric fringe somewhere on our project. I chose Digital Delights by Louby Loo's Hip Hop Myrtle to do a little dance in the grass. I guess you could say it's a Birthday Happy Dance since I also added the Happy Birthday Sentiment.

Just Because

Good Morning! I want to share a card that I made using the Basic Lattice Card file from' Paper Crafting World. It's another project posted for the Sizzlin Summer happenings at My Paper Crafting. I used the DCWV Lemon Flower Stack.  I must say, it cut very easily on the Pazzles. All of the elements on the card, except the handcut sentiment tag, are included in the cut file. The ribbon is my hand-died crinkle ribbon accented with a Crafter's Floss bow and black gem.  I inked the edges of all the flowers and leaves and then rolled the petals around a skewer to add a little dimension.  I also added black gems to the flower centers. Bears in Bikinis? Oh My!

Good Morning Crafty Friends, I hope you had a delightful July 4th.  We went to the parade here in our little town - it was really enjoyable.  Then we came home to hide out in the air conditioning because we're still in the middle of a heat wave.  I may venture out tonight to watch the fireworks.
These are the projects that I shared today at My Paper Crafting using files from Paper Crafting World.
I created this card about a year ago for my Copic Class gals.  The digi is Bear in Bikini colored with my Copic markers.
Then I decided that for today's post I'd like to use the same image but as a cut file using my Pazzles. So, for this card I used the Bear in Bikini cut file.

Masculine and Vintage

  Hello My Crafting Friends,   On July 1st  the summer/fall design team for Paper Crafting World was announced.  We are sharing a new format this term which will include individual postings featuring PCW digi stamps and cut files, tutorials, projects, and freebies along the way.   I have the privilege of creating the first post for this new format. I found these fabulous Moxxie papers when I was in Texas and wanted to use them to create a masculine card using the PCW digi Sailboat.  

The sentiment is a quote I found written by Whoopi Goldberg.  I think it's perfect for the essence of the card.

Because these papers have such a vintage look, I decided to use several distressing techniques to make the card come together.  Here's a close up to help you see the distressing.

  I decided to share a few pictures that explain the techniques (in case distressing is new to you.)

 First I roughed the edges of the patterned papers using a single blade of my scissors.

If you slightly dampen the paper first it shreds a little more easily, but be careful not to over tear.

 

 Then my favorite go-to technique is to ink the edges and corners with chalk ink.

 

 A crimper adds some nice dimension.  I actually crimped the bottom section of the card.

 

 I often use Spellbinders dies to cut and mat my images.  After embossing, but before removing the image from the die, I use a fingertip sponge and Distress Ink to ink from the die inward to the edge of the mat.  When the sponge was almost empty of ink, I sponged over the entire surface to get a more vintage look.

 

Finally, the choice of Copic colors is important to attain the look I was going for.
