Happy Memorial Day!

I hope you're having a wonderful holiday and enjoying the beginning of the summer season.

The Grillin' & Chillin' Bug Hop is still going on.  It's not too late to leave a comment
to be eligible for my Blog Candy.
The winner's name will be selected by Random. Org and posted tomorrow.
You can find the bug hop here.

Also, today is Challenge Me Monday #62 - "Remember This" - at Fantabulous Cricut.
Be sure to check out the design team's wonderful ideas for remembering a special
person, time, or anniversay.  Remember to use a Cricut cut and then link
your project to the Challenge Me Monday post.
And, check FCCB tomorrow for another of my Quick Tip Tuesday posts.

Today I'm sharing a card I made for my sister-in-law to give to a dear friend
who will be traveling to Hong Kong.

My SIL chose all of the images from Pagoda.
The Kanji symbol she chose represents "fun".  All of the papers are from the SEI Poppy Pad.
I used Stickles, VersaMagic chalk ink, my white Signo pen, and foam dimensionals to accent the cuts.

Thank You Cards

My sister-in-law asked me to make her a set of monogramed cards which she could use for thank you notes.  She picked a design that I had previously done and we added the monogram.  Purple is one of her favorite colors (mine, too!).  I made her a set of 6 in this pattern and then another set using a different color scheme.
I used Home Decor for the scroll work and Lyrical Letters for the monogram  Since there is not a shadow feature on LL, I just cut the letters in two colors and off-set them. The paper is from the DCWV Latte stack. This is the first time I've used a Pearl Pen.  Oooooh, I think I love it!!!

My SIL also chose a thank you card from my stash that she wants to send to a sweet lady who gave us a pattern and instructions for an adorable "chemo" scarf/hat.  This was my first welded shape card.  The card base is George, the hummingbird and flowers are from Pagoda (I think).  I used Perfect Pearls for accents - can't say I'm a real fan of using them, but I do like the effect on this card.

I hope you're having a great week.

First FCCB Design Team Post

Good morning.  It's Challenge Me Monday at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.  It's also the project debut for half of the new designers.  I hope you'll join in the challenge fun at FCCB and also check out the Daily Inspiration posts- there's something different everyday of the week.

This week's challenge is Tree Time. For my DT card, I chose a tree from Pagoda.  I love this cut with all of its layers.  I added the symbol for Strength.   It's a simple card with a powerful message.  I hope you like it.

I hope you'll visit again.  I always appreciate your comments.

Loving those Layers

Even the simplest card looks more finished when you use layers.  So many Cricut cartridges have the shadow feature so it's really easy to add depth and dimension to your projects.  I also love to layer the patterned papers with different colored mats.  Today's cards all feature ways to use layers.
This card uses my go-to layout and the shadow feature with the notes and a mat with the patterned paper.  I also added some inking for additional depth.

The butterfly uses the shadow feature and I used ribbon to mat the patterned paper.

Notice all the layers on this card.  Each element has at least three layers including mats and shadow features.

The use of layering just makes all the elements on this card pop.

The only thing not layered is the sentiment.  The purple seemed to stand out better without the shadow.
Layering is a great way to make a simple card look detailed.

Thanks for visiting.  I'd love to hear from you.

Hugs and Happy Crafting,
Larelyn
