Sketch Saturday # 763 with Optional Twist: Sympathy Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

I have a new challenge sketch for Sketch Saturday #763.
The optional twist is to make a sympathy card.

Here's my card.

I used the reverse foiling technique on the tag.  I save most of used foil sheets just so I can use this technique.  I also used:
Jaded Blossom Wishing You Comfort stamp set (heat embossed)
Lala Land Crafts Tag die
Pink Fresh Studio Fluttering Butterfies Washi tape (with die)
Spellbinders Serenade with Autumn Vellum with foil

Here's Sketch # 763.

I hope you'll play along.

Cut it Up Challenge #244 ~ Hard to Say . . .

Hi Crafty Friends,

We have a new challenge at Cut it Up Challenge Blog.

This challenge is "Hard to say . . ." so it could be a sympathy card, belated birthday, I'm sorry.  You know, those cards that are often difficult to make.

Our sponsor is DRS Designs.  The image I'm using was provided by our sponsor.

The image comes as shown with the sentiment surrounding the Calla Lilies.
I used Jaded Blossom Stitched Rectangle dies for the frame (I cut 3 including chip board to give it some dimension) and to cut out the image.  The leaves are from LaLa Land Crafts.
I used Neenah Desert Storm for the image and colored with Prisma pencils.

I hope you'll join us for this challenge.  Just add your project to the top link.
Don't forget to include a die cut!

Wishing You Comfort

 Hi Crafty Friends,

It's my day to post on the Jaded Blossom blog.

Sadly I had to make several sympathy cards recently.  I'd like to share my design and the Jaded Blossom products I used.

The inspiration for this design came from a Make N Take at Memories for the Making sponsored by LaLa Land Crafts.

Masculine Sympathy Card

Hi Crafty Friends,

My hubby asked me to create a sympathy card for a long time friend who recently passed away.

I think sympathy cards are often difficult because so much emotion is involved.
Hubby wanted something that was representative of his friend.  His friend loved to fish so I used this amazing DoveArt (for Whimsy Stamps) stamp to create this card.

I have used this image (Large Mouth Bass) before and colored it with Copic markers.  This time I just stamped it with colored Momento ink and then heat embossed it.

To create the background I first blended Distress Ink Weathered Wood onto Cryogen paper.  Then I stamped and heat embossed the image.  I placed the LaLa Land Crafts Water Ripples Stencil over the image and ink blended again with the same Distress Ink.  I really like the effect of the background.
I used LaLa Land Crafts Stitched Build-a-Frame Dies and  LLLC Wood Planks Background Stamp set to create the picture frame.  I ink blended Distress Ink Vintage Photo onto kraft paper, cut out the frame pieces, then inked up the background stamp using Distress Ink Walnut Stain and stamped the pieces.  For the sentiment, I used Jaded Blossom Simple Sayings.  I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment onto a gold metallic tag I cut using JB Mini Tag Dies 2.  I think adding the gold brads really make it look like a picture frame plate.  Finally, I added some twine with a gold leaf charm.
I matted the "framed picture" onto gold metallic and added that to the card base.

I'm pleased that this sympathy card has a personal touch representative of the man who passed.

Thanks for stopping by,

Pearly Sparkles July Challenge ~ 3 of a Kind

Hi Crafty Friends,

Are you ready for July's Challenge at Pearly Sparkles?

Our challenge is "3 of a Kind."  How fun will that be?

Here's my project.
My daughter requested a special sympathy card. I was inspired by a project we made during the
LaLa Land Crafts Make & Take held at my local scrapbook store.  Most of the dies and all of the stamps for this card are from LLLC.

This card fits in a standard business envelope.  There will be extra postage because I used lots of layers both outside and inside.  I love layering!
Did you find my 3 of a Kind?  I used 3 layered pointy flowers with Nuvo Drops centers.  The oval mat behind the angel was stenciled.  The marbled background is a LLLC background stamp.  The angel was stamped on heavy card stock and then fussy cut.

I hope you'll join in this month's challenge.  Just follow the link above.

Happy July and thanks for stopping by,

Pearly Sparkles Monthly Challenge ~ June ~ Man's World

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's time for our new monthly challenge at Pearly Sparkles.

Our theme for June is It's a Man's World.

I know most of you are thinking birthday or Father's Day but unfortunately I needed a sympathy card for a friend taken from his family way too soon.

DoveArt Studios has some of the most amazing stamps and I chose Honey Run for this card.
Most of us are "county folk" here in my town so I thought this image would be perfect.

Jaded Blossom Flag Dies
Impression Obsession Leafy Branch die
Jaded Blossom Wishing you Comfort stamp set

Die Cuttin' Divas #410 Green and/or Gold

Hi Crafty Friends,

This week's challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas is to use Green and/or Gold and, of course, a die cut.

I needed to make a sympathy card so I got out my Spectrum Noir Metallic pens and some new stamps from Crafter's Companion and followed one of their kit ideas ideas.

I love feather stamps, they are so simple and classic.  For this card, I inked the stamp using the metallic pen and then stamped the card stock.  The sentiment is heat embossed in gold.  It's from the Jaded Blossom Wishing  You Comfort set.  I cut the window using JB Stitched squares, popped up the large squared and then recessed the window cut out.  I like the effect.

I hope you'll join this week's challenge.  Just follow the link above.

Challenge Cards

Hi Crafty Friends,
I'm back sharing two more cards make specifically for card challenges.
It's fun designing cards to meet the requirements of challenges other than my own design teams.  I'm getting new ideas and meeting new crafty friends in the process.
This first card is for Jaded Blossom's March Challenge.
It's a color challenge along with using Jaded Blossom products.

I've used the Peacock stamp which is their spotlight stamp for this month.  I needed a sympathy card and this idea just sort of evolved.  I used Distress Oxides to create the background and then stamped and heat embossed the peacock using Gold Detail embossing powder.  I did add some Copic markers to the feathers.  The sentiment is from JB's Wishing You Comfort set.

My second card is for the Christmas Card Throwdown.  This week is a sketch challenge.

I used papers and die cuts from my stash although I know the die cuts are from La La Land Crafts.
The sentiment is from Jaded Blossom's Holiday Pampering set.
I think I share every week how excited I am to see my holiday card stash grow!

Woohoo! I'm guest designing for Jaded Blossom!

Hi Crafty Friends,

Today is my day to post on the Jaded Blossom blog.
I am thrilled to be guest designing this month.    I've been using Jaded Blossom products for years and still fall in love with every release!  Truly, Jaded Blossom stamps and dies are my go-to supplies for almost every project I create.

We recently said our final goodbye to a very dear friend and I wanted to make a sympathy card for the family.  I love the elegant simplicity of this card.

I used the following Jaded Blossom products:
Stitched Rectangles 1 and 2
Border Dies
Autumn Leaves (stamped with bronze metallic ink and heat embossed)
Wishing You Comfort stamp set (also heat embossed)

I also dry embossed using the Cuttlebug Forest Branches embossing folder.
The papers are shimmer card stock from The Paper Temptress and Crafter's Companion.

Thanks again, Michelle and Candace.  I'm looking forward to the rest of the month.
