I'm Yours

Hi Crafty Friends,
Today there's a new challenge at Cut It Up Challenge Blog.  The theme is "Love is in the Air" so you must add a heart and, of course, a die cut.
I recently purchased the January Creativity Kit from Hero Arts.  It included this heart die.  I also purchased the add on die set which is the 3 tiny hearts and the Valentine die cut.  The sentiment is from one of the two stamp sets included.  It's a really fun kit.

The ombre effect patterned paper is from Authentique.  I heat embossed the stamped sentiment so it would show up on the black.

Christmas Penguin

We're settled in our daughter's home in Lubbock, Texas where we'll spend Christmas and New Year's.  I even have a crafting space, which is a good thing since I needed to finish (oh, ok, I'll admit it - START ) my Christmas cards.  When you wait as long as I have to begin a project, simplicity takes over.

The paper is American Crafts, the ribbon loops from a Michael's spool, the penguin stamp is Hero Arts and the sentiment stamp is from the $1bin.  I just colored the penguin stamp with Copics and added a little bit of Stickles.

I hope you're enjoying your holiday preparations and celebrations.  We've never spent a Christmas away from home so this is a new (and, I hope, wonderful) experience.

Just Because

I made this card after taking the Asian inspired classes several weeks ago.  I had decided to mail it to a friend in Texas just because I've been thinking about her.  Then, low and behold, Whimsicial Wednesdays' challenge is "Just Because."  How about that for karma?

The dragonfly is a Stampin Up stamp and the flowers are from Hero Arts.  Stickles were applied here and there for a little sparkle.

Flower Basket

Good Morning and Happy Spring!  You'd never know it was spring in Northern California: the wind is ripping, it's super cloudy and rainy, and it's cold!  March's lion is still roaring around here.  Oh well, I'll just have to celebrate spring with my cards.  This card is for two challenges - Jitterbuggin Challenge (follow the sketch and add some green) and Paper Playtime (green and purple).  I used one of my new Hero Arts Clings stamp sets, Copic markers, Crystal Stickles, and Prima flowers.

A Stamping Kind of Day

When I first purchased my Cricut I swore that I would never buy stamps - I have a Cricut, who needs them, right?  Ha-ha-ha.  Four binders and eight stamp bins later, I find that I love stamps and markers almost as much as my Cricut although I don't use them nearly as often.  So, today I got out some stamps, embossing powder, Copics and inks that I've been wanting to use and just spent the day creating cards.

I used a new Hero Arts stamp and gold embossing powder on this first card.  I think it has a very elegant look with the pearls and organdy ribbon.

This stamp is by Judy Kins.  I used a pale sand to stamp the image on the background paper and then the brighter colors for the main image.  I also added a little distressed inking on the corners and edges of all the mats.

I colored the cattails with my Copics and matted the card with my favorite Bo Bunny Dot paper.  I picked up this stamp set when I went to my first Scrapbook Expo in 2009 and hadn't used it yet.

Stamped Card from Hero Arts

This card was made using the Hero Arts Two Birds stamp kit.  I stamped the birds but decided not to add them as I wanted a simple sympathy card and I felt the flowers were just enough.  I really like the rustic feel of this card which I colored with Copic markers.

I'm off to pick up a new kit created by Wendy Lawrence who designs for Monique Griffith.  It's a fun "Life is Tweet" book that I can't wait to get started on.
