Hostess Monday at Digital Delights

Hi Crafty Friends,
It's my turn to share a Hostess Monday project for Digital Delights by Louby Loo. When I saw this large double bow cut file in the store, I knew I wanted to create a project using it.

There is a hexagon card base under the bow so this could double as a card AND package decoration!  I thought Starz the Unicorn was the perfect addition!


I colored Starz using Copic markers.  The bow papers are from Doodlebug Designs.  Because I used card stock I chose to staple the bow parts using Terrifically Tacky (red) double sided tape to adhere the bow to the card base.  I used Jaded Blossom Stitched Oval and Scalloped Oval dies for the unicorn and mat.

Reindeer Cutie Table Favor

It's my day to post a Hostess Monday project at Digital Delights by Louby Loo.
For my project I wanted to use one of the SVG Paper Piecing sets.  I chose the Reindeer Cuties.  There are three different cut files, but I decided on the Topper since I love making treat bags.  I use them as table favors during the holidays.

This file is so easy to cut and assemble.  You will be able to quickly  make them for your entire guest lists.  The only thing I added was an offset on which to assemble the cutie.  I assembled the reindeer on my Silhouette virtual mat and then added the offset.  I then separated all the pieces by color so that I could cut everything at once.  I placed the cutie on the Fancy Topper Die from Jaded Blossom.

Hostess Monday at Digital Delights

Hi Crafty Friends,   It's my turn, once again, to share a Hostess Monday at Digital Delights by Louby Loo project with you. I love adding dimension to my cards and one way is to create a window card and add layers both inside and outside the window.  I wanted to create the illusion of an ocean on this one.

I used both sides of the Kaiser Craft Sea Grass patterned paper.  I placed the Sea Grass paper as a mat on the card base first and then cut out the Jaded Blossom Scallop Oval through both.  I printed the sentiment on a piece of vellum and adhered it to the inside.  Then I added the die cuts from Jaded Blossom Tropical Dies, some sequins, and the adorable Mermaid Samantha from the Digital Delights by Louby Loo store.  I colored her using Copic Markers and added sparkle with my Wink of Stella brush glitter pens.

This gives you a better look at the vellum window.  I covered it with a piece of coordinating card stock with the oval cut out so you can't see where I adhered it to the inside cover.

Here you can see the flip side of the patterned paper which I used on the inside with a coordinating mat.  You can see it through the vellum and that's the look I wanted. Mermaid Samantha Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Digital Delights Hostess Monday

It's my turn to post for Hostess Monday at Digital Delights by Louby Loo.   I am a Senior Designer and Team Two Coordinator.  I've been designing for Digital Delights for almost five years and I'm still in love with Wendy's fabulous images!      I decided to try a tri fold card but with a twist of using two windows then actually placing my image on the inside of the card.  It's based on an card design by Regina Easter.  I used an image from the January release, Huggy Bunny.
Here's my card:

I used Jaded Blossom's Stitched Squares Dies for the windows.  I decided that with the paper layering not much embellishment was needed so I just added Doodlebug Designs glittered sparkles.  the image was colored using Copic markers.

Hostess Monday at Digital Delights

Hi Crafty Friends,
It's my turn for Hostess Monday at Digital Delights by Louby Loo.   For my project I decided to do an SVG Paper Piecing.  I love Digital Delights digital stamps but sometimes it's fun to try one of the other great Digital Delights products.
I've made a card using the Bat Billy Paper Piecing.

The card is a 5 x 7.  I used my Silhouette to cut out all the pieces which I then inked and added some doodling here and there.  Some ribbon and gems and I have a cute Halloween card.

One thing I've learned when importing SVG files is that the files often import with the pieces already separated - easier to lay out on the virtual mat especially if you want to cut by color.  But then I wonder how all the pieces go together once they are cut.  So, a little trick I use is to copy the colored image from the store and then drop it in my open Silhouette design.  That way I have a picture reference right in front of me as I work.  When I save the file to my Silhouette library, I have the picture reference included with the saved file - easy peasy.

Beach Babe Britt

Hi Crafty Friends, Today is my day to share a Hostess Monday project for Digital Delights by Louby Loo. I have been on a shaker card kick having learned an easy way to make shaker cards that are relatively flat so they're easy to mail. The image for my card is Beach Babe Britt.

The shaker part is a made from a piece of cellophane bag.  I cut out the center of the sun with the circle part of the die cut after cutting and mounting the rays on the card.  The circle was cut all the through the layers including the card base - a little bit tricky because it was so thick.  Then I taped the circle die onto the piece of cellophane bag and partially sealed it with the WRMK Fuse tool just following around the outside of the die.  Then I filled the pocket with sequins and finished sealing it with the Fuse.  The pocket is adhered between the mats and card base.  The inside mat shows through to provide a background color for the shaker pocket.  Here is a link to the tutorial where I learned this technique:

Along with "Britt", I've used Jaded Blossom's Spring Dies 2 for the sun and Tropical Dies for the seashell and sand.  The cloud paper is from Echo Park.  Britt is colored with Copic markers.

I hope you've enjoyed my card.  You can use almost any die shape to create the shaker pocket.  Give it try - it's so much fun.

Hostess Monday at Digital Delights

Hi Crafty Friends, It's my turn to post for Hostess Monday at Digital Delights by Louby Loo. I wanted to share what I call the "Delightful Boys of Summer."  As I was going through my Digital Delights images I found so many adorable boy images.  Sometimes these cards are the most difficult to make because lots of images are feminine.  Well at Digital Delights that's not the case!  Wendy has created as many images for the guys as for the gals.  I decided to pick a few, use the same card base and layout and show you how versatile these images can be.  I didn't add sentiments as they'll go into my stash for those times when I need to grab a card for a special guy. Let's start with Say Cheese Paul,

For the card bases I used the Classic Label Card Base from SVG Cutting Files.  I imported the file into my Silhouette and added one extra mat by using the internal offset tool.  The film strip is from the Film Dies set by Jaded Blossom.  The frog and chevron are punches that I have.  Each image was colored with Copic markers. Watercolor Background Using Copic Markers

Hi Crafty Friends, Today is my turn for Hostess Monday at Digital Delights by Louby Loo.  I'm going to share a Delightful image and a Copic technique that you might want to try.   For my card today I've created a watercolor-like background using Copic markers.  The image is Candy Cane Jingles.  I used the pre colored version.

Now, let's see how this watercolor technique is done:

 Gather your card making materials including a small plastic cup, Copic Various Ink - blending solution, a paint brush, and a piece of acetate (I use the packaging from different craft products.)

 Add the blending solution to your cup and scribble your Copic color of choice on the actetate,  You can use a darker color with this method.  I've chosen BG75

 Dip your brush into the blending solution and then pick up some ink from the acetate.  Apply to the background of your image.  If it's too dark, add more blending solution.  If it's too light, pick up more ink.  You can mask your image if you'd like.  I use Cryogen paper so I know how the ink moves and I just work the ink close to the image.  If you use a more coarse paper, it might bleed into the image so test it first.

 The purpose of this method is to get a watercolor-like background in which the color has many shades (using just the one color).  Keep working with the ink and the solution until you get a background that is pleasing to your eye.  Let it dry (it will lighten with drying)

Now you're ready to mount your image and finish your card.  You can use this same method to color your image if you want a watercolor  appearance.  I hope you give it a try.

Hostess Monday at Digital Delights

Hi Crafty Friends, It's my turn for Hostess Monday at Digital Delights by Louby Loo.  I want to show you a cute project I found in the summer issue of CardMaker Magazine.  It's called a floral clutch card and I thought that the Digital Delights by Louby Loo Flower Background image would be perfect.

This is the image placed under the outside flap.  I used Copic markers to color the digi.

You can see the clutch shape using "mountain-valley folds.
The card base is 5.5 x 9, scored at 3, 3.5, 4 and 7

 Closed (using repositionable double-sided tape.

The inside - wouldn't this be perfect to slip in a gift card?

My Hostess Monday at Digital Delights

Today it's my turn for Hostess Monday at Digital Delights by Louby Loo.

Today I'm sharing a brief version of one of the background techniques that I'm learning.  I met the fabulous Marie Gamber at a crop and she told me about her  Backgrounds online class through Color Me Creative.  Marie's Copic coloring is beyond amazing but it's her backgrounds that are so unique and bring the image to life.  Well, she totally convinced me and, while taking her class, I've been working on adding more background to my images in order to make the focal image pop. Here's my card using Snow Buddy from Digital Delights by Louby Loo.

 Here's a closer look at the background with a few added whimsical snowflakes using a white gel pen.

  Marie teaches a number of background techniques in her class.  This is my quick version of the Copic Marbleized background.  

 First I colored my focal image using Copic Markers and then sketched in the "ground".  Didn't want my Snow Buddy floating in mid air.

I added the first layer of background color.

Now squiggles of colors used in my focal image barely blending them out.

And finally, a few whimsical snowflakes. Remember, this is my quick and simple version as there is more to the technique. Chimney Santa

  Hello Crafty Friends! It's my turn to present Hostess Monday on the Digital Delights by Louby Loo blog. I made two quick and easy projects using SVG Delightful Cuts.  I'm so excited that I can now use cut files along with my digi stamps and Cricut cartridges.  I love having the Pazzles Inspiration cutter as part of my crafting tools.   This first project uses the Christmas Cracker cut file.  It was so easy to cut and  gather at the ends.  I've tried a few other cracker box files and just couldn't get the ends to work.  This one was easy peasy.  The papers are digital papers from the Mistletoe Paper Pack.

 

Next I used the Elf Boot Card cut file.  Again, this project went together so easily.  I used more of the Mistletoe Paper Pack  and a sentiment from the Touch of Christmas set.

 

Finally, Wendy asked me to create something using one of her newest digital image sets,

Chimney Santa Set.  This image and sentiment just make me smile - I think they're so clever.  I wanted to make a pedestal card so it looked like Santa was on a roof.  I drew shingles on the brown kraft paper and added Frosted Lace Stickles so it looked like snow on the roof.  Isn't this sentiment just the best?  Ha-ha, I giggle everytime I read it.
